If you have run out of space in your home, you can always transform the attic into a bedroom. This might be a cozy space for you or for another member of your family. You just have to make sure that you do the tasks right when you are renovating your attic and turning it into a livable space.
The attic is one of the most under-designed and unused spaces in the entire home. Most people use the attic space as a storage area where long-forgotten antiques, clothes, photo albums, and assorted junk gather dust and cobwebs.
However, this needn’t be the case, for the attic can quite easily be transformed and remodeled into a usable space such as a spare bedroom, playroom or home study. The following are some considerations you need to take into account before you plan your next move in regard to the refurbishment of this space.
You have to assess the area of the attic. This will allow you to determine how many furniture items you may possibly introduce into the room. If you are buying new furniture, measuring the area will also give you a good idea about the sizes of furniture items that you need to buy. If you have a lot of space, you may indulge in a big bed or a wide dresser.
You need to determine where the bed will be placed. The bed is a big furniture item. It may be placed at one corner or in the middle of the room. You have to position the bed in relation to other items that you have inside the room. There should be enough space for you to walk through, open your drawers or cabinets, and work on a table in the room.
Add a few more electric sockets. Most attics that have served as stock rooms only have a single electrical connection and this is usually reserved for a light. If you wish to make the room livable, you have to add a few more sockets so that it is possible to use several electronic devices at once.
